Tanning Tips

When we think tanning it conjures up images of bleached
teeth, hair and that god awful fake orange glow. The ompaloompa look is
never good for anyone unless your are visiting the land of chocolate.
I have tried every product known to woman and have had my
share of disasters. Whether you are short on time or heading away on a
tropical holiday these are the best self application tanning products
on the market
.
Before you begin
- Shave or wax (waxing needs to be done the day prior).
- Exfoliate - the best way to exfoliate is with a barely
damp flannel on dry skin BEFORE _ showering or bathing. Exfoliating
dry skin is much more effective and rids skin of excess oils.
- Don't use hands to blend your tan! Using hands results
in excessive amounts being absorbed _ into the skin and will turn you
ginga!

DOVE SUMMER GLOW Gradual Tanning Moisturiser $8.99
available from supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.
This is a super rich, gradual tanning moisturiser.
Even though I am considered amongst friends as Casper the Ghost,
I chose the medium to dark shade in the hope of a dramatic, visible
result.
I applied with my hands all over my body. I then popped an old black
sock on each hand (or blending glove) and blended the moisturiser
with light-medium pressure and circular motions. After washing hands
and feet with a wet cloth, I reblended with the socks ensuring on
muck-ups on the hands and feet. A quick blast of warm air with the
hairdryer eliminated any stickiness! I found it best to apply in
the evening and sleep in some dark clothes to avoid it staining
bed linen. After applying this for three consecutive nights I had
a golden brown tan with no yellow or orange tones.

gorgeously tanned with a tiny hint of shimmer. You only need to
use a small amount as it spreads well but remember to rub it in
quickly before it dries using blending gloves or old socks.

ST TROPEZ Tanning Mousse $40 available
from Salons, pharmacies, Farmers and Smith & Caugheys.
St Tropez have perfected their products over the years
to eliminate streaking and nasty smells. Their latest tanning mousse
should be called Dream Mousse as it glides on like a dream and takes
less than five minutes to cover the entire body. There is no familiar
biscuit smell that we all wince at! This develops over 4-6 hours
and the cosmetic layer washes off upon showering leaving a golden
tan underneath!

SOLVOL $2.00 available from the cake soap section at
most supermarkets.
Forget expensive, branded scrubs that claim they are fake tan removers
as they seldom work and are a waste of money. For just $2.00 you can
erase your tanning disaster away as simply as pencil! MAGIC!

After your tanning application
- Avoid excessive exercise, sweating or getting
caught in the rain. Failure to do so will result in a _patchy, uneven
tan or worse, looking like a polka dot raincoat!
- Moisturise regularly! As humans our skin falls
off as part of the natural exfoliation process so in _order to keep
it on we need to trick the skin by moisturising it to make our tan last!
SNEAKY!
